hello Automators or should i say newAutomators? Likely you’ve gone out you’ve purchased an Amazon Echo Dotprobably the third geeneration here and what I wanted to do was put togethereverything we’ve done on the channel here show you how to get that devicefully set up so what I have for you below in the description is a full indexof this video it’s going to allow you to go to different components of the setupprocess here so you’re going to be able to get your Amazon Echo Dot fully set upin your home working with a number of different systems here and really doingeverything I think you could possibly want it to do so let’s get going now thefirst thing to tell you is I had previously set up this Amazon Echo Dot 3 on the channel it’s a very simple setup process so let’s walk through that videolet you guys watch that one and then we’ll come back and I’ll give you thetroubleshooting component here for getting the device set up if youremember the box from the original Echo Dot or the second generation of the EchoDot you’ll actually remember that it was much slimmer so this is a much thickerpackage here and you can see the device as soon as you get in there you can seeit right in there now I’m going to pull it out and it really still is the samedevice the same size as it originally was no after you get the plastic off youcan see the four buttons still on the top there you can see the plus and theminus those are your volume buttons and then you also have on this side the mutemicrophone button and on the other side here we have the wake button for AmazonAlexa another thing to show you here is it appears that there are four far-fieldmicrophones on the top of this device so you see if those four dots are thosefour holes in the device that appears to be four microphones on the top of thiswhereas you know if you were comparing this to the second generation you cansee here as I get it closer to the screen you cansee that there was actually just one in the middle of this device as I open upthe rest of the package here you do get a manual from Amazon not that we’regonna use that that’s what you have this for here there’s actually a secondmanual here and then you’re getting basically a card for things to try withthe Amazon Echo Dot now under that of course is going to be our power or ourAC adapter here so what I’ll tell you about this new device from Amazon thepower adapter is quite long actually I’m gonna put that around five feet hereit’s definitely my wingspan and on top of that this is a single connector thatgoes into the back of the Amazon Echo Dot you can see it right there there’s asecond connector there and that’s going to be the same 3.

5 millimeter connectorthat we’ve always had so I’ve just gone ahead and plugged in the Amazon Echo DotI’ll let it go through its short boot up process here hello your device is ready for setupjust download the Alexa app and follow the instructions Bonjourvotre pave a clip on a coffee collosseum delicious real educational exercise DVDsSP on all right now here in Canada you just heard it it went through Englishand French and that is relatively important here in Canada so that was anice little touch that Amazon did there for those of us in Canada all right nowI have my Amazon Echo Dot sitting here it’s ready to go with its connectionprocess you can see the little orange ring going so I’m going to go into theAmazon tap and what’s amazing about this latest processor this latest setupprocess that amazon has created is when I ordered this through my Amazon accountbefore it showed up on my doorstep I had this inside the app so that’s quite thesetup process so now inside the app you can see I’m going to go into the devicessection or the home control section of the app so from the devices screen herethere’s a couple of different methods you can go to get through the setupprocess the first one is in the top left you can see Echo and Alexa, I can tap onthat icon and go into a setup process there because as I said Amazon’s alreadyadded this device to this application the other method is here top right I canclick that plus and add a device down here so I’m just going to go in throughthe other method you could see right there just hit add a device and itstarts the same process but here here’s my Echo Dot which I just ordered itshown up in the app and I can just tap on that and now I’m in the devicesettings and if I simply tap change here next to the Wi-Fi network we start thesetup process on this Echo Dot so now they’re just saying let’s go ahead getyou connected to Wi-Fi make sure the orange light is here tap continue againand now they want you to connect your iPhone to the Echo Dot so what they’retelling you is to go to the Wi-Fi settings onsigh phone and select Amazon – qbk network so you’re going to see thatactually on Wi-Fi when you’re looking for Wi-Fi networks to connect to here soI’m just gonna skip over there we’re gonna go into settings on my iPhone verysimilar process on an Android device go into Wi-Fi here and now you can see thatAmazon – qbk is right there so I’m going to tap on that you’ve connected now goback to the Alexa so now I’m just gonna skip back and as soon as I skip backmoves us along here in the process so I’m tapping continue to continue thissetup process again I really haven’t done anything as of yet but you can seeI have a previously saved to Amazon a Wi-Fi network so because I have theseother devices in my home and I’ve chosen to save those credentials there’s thatWi-Fi network if I didn’t have it I just simply have to tap on one of these othernetworks and go ahead and put in my credentialsregardless I’m going to tap on that account and now it’s just preparing theEcho Dot for connection to my Wi-Fi network your device is ready so there you gothat’s it that’s the entire setup process right there Amazon really meantit when they said that this was a simple setup process now so alright so thereyou go like I said relatively simple not a lot to it but if you’re strugglinglet’s talk about troubleshooting in the first thing to talk about is Wi-Fitroubleshooting so I actually have another video that I’m going to show youa small component of here and let you get your Wi-Fi trouble shot and ifyou’re still struggling at that point then you need to probably talk to Amazona little bit here on that note in terms of wireless connections a G B or n thoseare the wireless the the wireless standards that you can use to connect toyour Amazon Echo, the whole suite of products so that allows you a routerthat is dual band so 2.

4 and or 5 gigahertz you can connect to with thesedevices you can choose to be on the 5 gigahertz band for these devices ifyou’d like and that will help with network congestion in a lot of cases andthat’s one of the things I want to talk to you about so what can go wrong withthe setup here number one you can put in the wrong password and that’s honestlythe most likely thing that you’re going to do here as you go through the Wi-Fisetup process the second thing that could be is that network congestion andin terms of Wi-Fi troubleshooting if your router is on any sort of securitysetting other than WPA or wpa2 you’re not going to be able to get theseconnected so that’s a very important piece here in terms of troubleshootingsteps here’s what I would suggest you do and actually this is relatively similarto what Amazon tells you to do on their support site so what you’re going towant to do if this is not able to connect number one head into theapplication look at that device and look at the wirelessand if the wireless settings are showing you basically a lock on them yourpassword is wrong go ahead change that next up if your password has worked oryou know you’re using your right password then what you’re going to wantto do is basically restart your router to allow these to try and connect andI’ll tell you the reason I think Amazon tells you to do that is based on theirlast troubleshooting step as well now what they tell you to do there isbasically disconnect some old devices and obviously this isn’t going to workfor a ton of us but if you do have a lot of network congestion at that 2.

4gigahertz which is primary for this to try and connect if you do have a lot ofdevices there you’ve got a lot of devices around this or around the routeritself then you might run into just network congestion or traffic basicallyon your router and making it impossible for these to connect so if you’re alsofinding after this that your device is getting disconnected quite often youmight want to switch it to the 5 gigahertz on your router if you havethat option or yes switch some other devices or in the end switch your routerso those are the basic troubleshooting steps that you can go through herethere’s not a lot else to give you around this that it’s a prettystructured wireless setup so now you have your device set up it’s the primaryspeaker it’s going to use itself and we need the Amazon application in order tobe able to set up the device now the difference between you and I is I gointo the application here is if you’re a first time person you had to put in anew Amazon account you had to put that in there and and get that all set up butnow assuming you have the device set up let’s go over to the devices screen andwe’re going to start there and we’re going to go and look at our actual Echo Dot here and go through the device settings first off ok now in the devicesettings you know what I’m just going to show you a couple things really quicklyhere you can see all your different devices thatyou have in the home there’s also an all devices there and then all your groupsthat you’ve created which are essentially rooms and you could havecreated specialized ones you also have the speaker groups which I’ll show youhow to do a little bit later and at the bottom there’s a stereo sub pair so I dohave the Amazon Echo Sub here and it is paired with a couple of Echos so we’regoing to go into the Echo and the voice assistant name button there at the topand I’m looking for my Echo Dot now I haven’t placed this one in a roomspecifically to actually show you these things so it’s the Echo Dot three andthis is the device settings green and this is what we’re going to walk throughfirst the Edit name button this means you can actually change the name of thedevice and this is how you’ll refer to it and so I’m just going to call thisone dot and that’s all I want to call it and now whenever I say play X on dotthat’s the device it’s going to do that with so let’s go ahead and do that playfoo fighters on dot stop no I’m not kidding then I can refer to dot so I cancome over here to an Amazon Echo play Foo Fighters on Dot shuffling songsby Foo Fighters so the one thing to note there you saw stop stop stop no you haveto say on that device if you’re not actually speaking to the device that youwant to stop the process on you have to refer to that device so that’s why thename becomes important in the future and in the future speaker groups and thingslike that as well so now if we wanted to attach Bluetooth devices this device iscapable of outputting music through the auxiliary port on the back so that’s a3.

5 millimeter you could just directly connect that and then use that goingforward or you can use the Bluetooth capability now it goes in a couple ofdifferent ways we could Bluetooth to another speaker if we’d like and then wecan also use our phone as the Bluetooth controlling device now what I’m going toshow you today is how to use the Bluetooth device capability in generaland then we’ll go you know through a demo of broadcasting to anotherBluetooth device so because I tapped into that Bluetooth setting I can pair anew device and it goes through a bit of a search process here and it wants tomake sure basically your device is in pairing mode so I’m just going to makesure yep my phone is in pairing mode it’s ready to go and I can go to myBluetooth settings in my phone here and as I do that if I scroll down to thebottom I will find my Echo-qbk so that’s what it told me as a name so you have towait a little bit for that to show up and now I’m just pairing those twodevices together connected to Brian’s iPhone so you get your pairednext time just say connect my phone that is an important piece there now you canjust say connect my phone or enable Bluetooth and it should make thatpairing immediately so you can see in my iphone settings there it does sayconnected and when I come back to the application you can see my iPhone therenow this will work now that I’m paired by bluetooth this will work with anyapplication so you could use Apple music you could use Spotify it doesn’t matterI’m using Google Play Music and as I hit play because I’m Bluetooth connectedthis is the speaker that’s going to start up next song volume up stop so youcan see I could do voice control once I was Bluetooth connected now that doesn’tmean that I can access my playlists or albums or or any of that I can’t controlinto the music application so you know it if you start to control that waywhat’s going to happen is you’re going to actually switch services and youwon’t be controlling from your phone that’s ok but you’ll just be controllingfrom the device the dot itself alright now I’ve shown you how to play someBluetooth there there’s a couple of different ways of disconnectingobviously I could do that from my phone you’ll know how to turn off your ownBluetooth radio so let me show you this disconnect from my phone nowdisconnected from Brian’s iPhone now I could also use words like disableBluetooth items like that but you could see I could actually just say disconnectfrom the phone so back into the application here I think that shows youhow to set up bluetooth obviously if you’re connecting another speakerthrough bluetooth the process is in Reverse here so you’re able to actuallyoutput to that speaker inside the Bluetooth device settings here I justwant to show you one more thing as you tap down that little arrow in yourdevice you can disconnect and you can forget the device now I find myselfwanting to disconnect and then sometimes I want to forget the device because Ifind it just pairs too easily so if you want to ever forget a device that’s itall right now back in the device settings you could see up here there isa volume bar that you can actually control there obviously you can controlit from the device itself if you want to control volume you can use your voice tocontrol volume as well just saying volume up or volume to X percentwhatever you want but you can also control it here but only while thedevice is actually playing so you can see that little error code that it threwall right now continuing down here here’s the Wi-Fi network if you hitchange then you can change the password that’s been put into this regarding theWi-Fi network so if you see a lock there that’s your problem right away if you’reunable to connect to Wi-Fi or the device is telling you every time you speak toit go to the settings in the app and check your Wi-Fi so if that’s theproblem if there’s a lock there that’s the problem change your Wi-Fi passwordand it will update now the stereo pair I’m going to show you a little bit laterin the video that’s part of the final part of the process here and I’ll talk alittle bit specifically about how to do those stereo pairings the Echo remote ifyou have a Fire HD remote or a fire stick or you have all those differentEcho remotes basically you can start the pairing process there we won’t gothrough that or the Alexa gadgets there all right now moving down to the soundspart of the general settings here on the device you can see a slider here forsetting the volume of alarms timers and notification so that’s an independentvolume control actually from your music volume control so you can use that andthen you can see the little ascending alarm capability here so let’s go aheadand I’ll show you the differential here set an alarm for 951 is that 951 in themorning or in the evening AM alarm set for 951 a.

m.

so we’re gonna see thatstart here in just a second but you can also see the alarm sounds that you’reable to set so there’s the default sound and then there’s the ability to setthese other custom ones I’ll let you play with those every time you tap themyou hear them stop okay so that’s all you have to do toactually get that alarm to stop you just tell it to stop now I’m going to set theascending alarm and then we’ll go ahead and set another one here so set an alarmfor 9:52 a.

m.

alarm set for 9:52 a.

m.

now there’s a notification section hereso basically if you’re getting a notification of you know a messagedifferent things there you can set the default to none if you don’t want tohear anything basically and then there’s an incoming call ringerso when you’re getting the call from someone someone’s dropping in on yourdevice you can set that on or off the other thing here is a start and an endof request so so you can see how gradual it is now stop alarm now the other thing you sawwhen I turned on that start of request and end of request there’s a little pingsound at either end of the conversation with the device so that does help you asyou know as you’re using this device I would say turn that on because you don’thave to look at the device you can actually hear that audible confirmationof it responding to your wake word there so now moving down again there’s someaudio controls here this is the equalizer section so there is theability to control the equalizer through your voice so we’ll go ahead and we’lldo that while we’re playing music here but also you know you can control itright here you could turn up the bass and you can see the device responding asI move those components now what I’ll tell you for an Echo Dot 3 is that thebass is a little more aggressive than the mid-range so I would actually turnup that mid-range and the treble a little bit in general I think you get abetter sound from the device turn up the bass no it didn’t instantlyshow up in my application but if I go out of the audio controls and come backin you can see that it’s moved about 20 to 30 percent in a direction there sothat’s the ability to adjust those now do not disturb mode it will only botheryou with alarms and timers so this is maybe something you want to set androutines are a great place to set this you can also schedule it as you can seehere to stop disturbing you basically you know and and I would all say is I’drather do this in the evening myself so you just set the time and you know I’mgonna go to 11 to 6 a.

m.

there everyday struggling a bit with the sliders here but you can see it’s been set now andfrom on every day it will not disturb me except for alarm so you can still setyour alarm for 555 a.

m.

and it will still go off now the settings forcommunications are you know this a bit of a deeper discussion we’ll do that alittle later in the video but do you want communications enabled for thisdevice specifically so you could actually turn off different devices inyour home as you grow out here so what this is is the ability to haveannouncements go out and the ability to drop in on devices so you can havefriends family people with other eco devices or this application drop in onyour device and and send you announcements and things like that soright now just for the device settings it’s kind of either on or off locationsa pretty simple device setting set your location in order to get you knownavigation help or weather help or those kinds of things that you know that helpsyou with local news as well so you can just set your location in there you canset the timezone you can change your region here so I’m going togo to North America obviously and then you can pick the different time zonesnow I’m in the Mountain Time Zone here and there you go so you’re set in termsof a time zone you can also change the wake word so if you don’t want to useAmazon’s default wake word you can change that so now follow up modeheading into there that mode allows you to basically keep the microphone openfor a set period of time here to allow you to continue the conversation withyour device next up is language now you can set the different languages when youtry and set a language that doesn’t match your account they basically tellyou some of the settings aren’t going to work but you can actually adjust theaccount you’re using with this device if you have one registered in othercountries so you know that’s maybe a way to get some extra features I’ve done itin the past myself but it messes with a bunch of other settings so themeasurement units do you want to use Celsius Fahrenheit miles or kilometersI’m Canadian so I’m going to change to those things and then who is this deviceregistered to and the about the device so you can go into that you can see thedevice software version so if you’re ever wondering what software version orwhat version you have on this device there it is in the About section so thatclears it up or that kind of finishes it for the basic device settings let’s movein to the other parts of the application now and your account settings so back tothe home page here we’re going to go into the device or the account settingsand the menu in general here so the lists capability this is inherent to allof your devices in your home you can set your list and you can go into each listand you can see I’ve added a few items here to my shopping list and I have ato-do list and I can go ahead and I can manage them through the device here solet’s go ahead and create a few things actually one more thing I’ve createdanother list called gift list and you can see something is completedcalled nice for my mom something nice for my mom I had added that in aprevious video here so let’s go through the list capabilities add butter to myshopping list I put butter on your shopping list now you can see how quickthat was take butter off of my shopping listI checked off butter from your shopping list so again you can see how quick itis to manage that list add Creede another video to my to-do listcreate another video added to your to-do list so again that’s going to be therealready create another video and I can manage itin here if I’d like I just tap on the item I can also add any item I’d likejust physically through that plus button now this gift list that’s a bit of adifferent capability here this is a list that I added like I told you but you canadd things still to that so add Echo Dot to my gift list I could I’d add it togift so there you go it’s right there the Echo Dot is on that gift list so ifI’d like I can create another list create a new list what should I name thelist automate your life tasks create a list called automate your life tasksright yes I’ve created automate your life tasks list what would you like toadd to it build a video I’ve added built a video to your automate your life taskslist is there anything else you’d like to add revamp the website I’ve addedrevamp the website to your automate your life tasks list any other items nothat’s good all right now you can see inside the application here both ofthose items are there and I can check them off as I build my video and as Irevamp the website which by the way gives you a little indication and what Ihave to do here but there’s one other thing I want to show you within thelists capabilities there’s also a Settings component to this that I wantto show you now as I come down I went into the menu and went into settings andnow I’m in lists if you’re using something like to do it you can go aheadyou can hit that plus or you can go get the skill from the skill store whichI’ll show you in a little bit but you could go get that skill and then youcould connect it here now what I’ll tell you about most of these services isthey’re very good services on their own their integration here it sometimesintroduces delays so you can go ahead and you can add these other lists thatyou have in these other services or you can add that integration is sometimesyour list if you’re going and you’re managing them you know one evening onthe web they’re not going to show up here until the following day and that’swhat I’ll tell you happens with to do this all right now the reminders analarm section that’s in the menu again and as you go over to that section whatI’ll tell you is it’s managed actually by device so all of these things are setby device now you can see up at the top I’ve unplugged my second Echo here andso I need to go and find the device that I want to manage reminders alarms andtimers on now I can physically add them here in the application so againAmazon’s giving you the ability to create these things so I can say add areminder here I can create repeating reminders to do different things and itwill announce from this device obviously I could choose to have it announced froma different device so they’re not going to show you how to create thosephysically here that’s just a simple form alarms you can see those two alarmsthat I set up earlier in the video I could turn those back on if I wantedthem to you know happen again but you can see that they are specifically forspecific dates now the the date and time ran here are the time the sound I canset it per alarm if I’d like instead of setting it per device this wouldoverride your device setting so just keep that in mind and then do you wantto repeat it every day now you can also do this all by voice which I’m going toshow you and you can delete any alarm that you’d like the last thing here isthe ability to set a timer and you can set multiple timers and you can alsomanage your timer volume here so now as you manage those timer volumes you’reactually going into the device settings again here so you know just keep that inmind you’re actually changing the device settings if you go through this methodso let’s create some reminders some alarms and some timers set a reminderevery Tuesday at 7 a.

m.

to take out the garbageokay I’ll remind you every Tuesday at 7 a.

m.

so there you go there it is alreadyand I created a recurring one and it will remind me on this device so youmight want to put that in a specific location if that’s what you’re going touse to get that reminder add an alarm at 6:45 a.

m.

every dayalarms set for every day at 6:45 a.

m.

set a timer for 2 minutes 2 minutesstarting now set a second timer for eggs for 5minutes second a timer 5 minutes starting now sothere you go now you can see that name that I put into the the timer there sothat gives you the ability to manage that a little bit so if I want to goahead and cancel that timer I can cancel it by name now so cancel my second eggstimer second base timer cancelled so you go it’s gone right away and cancel alltimers canceling all of your timers cancel my reminders you have onereminder take out the garbage every Tuesday at 7:00 a.

m.

do you wantme to cancel all instances of this reminder yes take out the garbage forevery Tuesday at 7 a.

m.

cancelled now clearly I could go ahead and I couldmanage that alarm but I’m just going to tap that and and just have the slidercome off now again down at the bottom there’s no settings so you go back tothe device settings for sounds there so that basically runs you throughreminders and alarms you can see a lot of capability there and I could besetting these on different devices to have different reminders at differenttimes so that’s pretty powerful stuff now next up is the contacts capabilityand contacts is tied with communications so let’s go through that whole sectionnow so going into contacts and you can see I have all of my contacts importedbasically from my phone so when you go into the screen the first time you’regoing to get requested to allow it to access the contacts in your device goahead and do that and then you’re able to reach all these different people nowup in the top right here you could add contacts yourself you can blog contactsyou can import contacts physically here if you don’t get that notification soyou can go ahead and leave that enabled and it will synchronize those contactsI believe it’s every day actually that it will synchronize those contacts sothat’s the contacts component and then there’s the communication component andthis allows you to do a number of different things here so up in the topright I’ll just take you through the interface really quickly up in the topright there’s a shortcut to the contacts again so you’re able to go back andforth between the contacts really quickly I can make phone calls from hereI can send messages from here I can drop in so that’s basically dropping intosomebody else’s device and I can make announcements in my home soannouncements are the most simple thing I can tap that button and if I’d like Ican type something and have it play and and basically playon all my devices that are set up in this application and set up in thisaccount or I can go ahead and I can say something no I think I’d rather saysomething I’m on my way home now I’m sending that announcement dropping in ifI’m hitting any of the buttons here I’m making a call from this to one of thesedevices I’m sending a message from my phone to these devices or I’m droppingin so we’ll go through each of these as a demo here now as I select a contact I have anumber of capabilities here I can go through an audio or a video call thoseare data based calls or I can make a physical phone call so what I’m going todo is I’m going to actually use my Echo Dot to make that phone call now becauseyou can see I could do it from my phone and it would just cause my phone to makea phone call to those devices now the other thing I can do is do the messageand drop in but let’s do the call and then the message and then the drop andfunctionality call Brian did you mean Brian yes calling so you can see rain here like totalk so you can see on my phone here I can accept or decline so I’ve acceptedhere on my phone just you so you can see that you can make those device phonecalls I turn the volume way down here so you wouldn’t hear it but I can also mutemy microphone here if I’d like and you can see I can turn on and off thespeaker capability as well on my phone there is a number pad that’s at onlygoing to work between basically phones as you can make those device audio callsbetween phones if both people have that application so now I can hang up fromeither device I could hang up from here but what’s the point in having an EchoDot hang up so there you go and I can hit a littlerate call there so let’s continue send a message to Brian what’s the message howare you got itshould I send it yes sending from Brian so you can see here’s those othercapabilities are basically the other capability to see that message so youcan see just this little it’s kind of a greenish yellow ring that’s showing upon these devices so let’s go ahead and get that message it’s been sent to allof them what messages do I have one for Brian from Brian how are you receivedjust now so if I’d like I could send a reply obviously to that contact and theywould get that message it’d be sitting on their device for when they get homeso that’s that’s actually pretty fun stuff to be able to send contacts backand forth now of course the drop in capability here I’m going to do thatfrom the Echo Dot again so drop in on Brian so you can see I’ve actually dropped inon this device and I have to turn down the volume or else we’re just gonna geta bunch of echo between these two devices but there’s actually the abilityto have a phone conversation here essentially through your two devices soyou know you can go ahead you can do that drop into different things and youcan manage those settings by device so you could enable or disable and you canchoose which of your devices is the primary as well so stop drop in so thereyou go that’s how you can end the call you can also end it a number ofdifferent ways and I can drop in here on any of my devices and you can see that Ican actually choose through this although this device is on do notdisturb mode so let’s move on back into the menu and we’re going to go intoroutines now in order to give you a full you know routine setup video I’d have tocreate a whole nother 20 minute video but what I am going to do is show yousome of the basics of routines and what you can do with an Amazon Echo Dot andthis is going to bring us into a little bit of the home control discussion sonow that I’ve gone into the menu have gone into routines you can see yourroutines and you may have one there or one demo and then they have a featuredsection where they have some pre created routines now you’re you’re able tobasically say goodnight this is a featured routine I could enable it verysimply and this is what the device will do I can add an action if I’d likeadditionally and then it will say a random phrase from goodnight it turnsoff a whole bunch of lights so you can see it’s already identified a bunch oflights I have in my home if you don’t have any whole devices connected youwon’t have that yet we’ll go through connecting other devices here in alittle bit but ultimately you can see it’s turning off everything in my houseand it’s doing it from the device I speak to or I can ask it to specificallydo it from specific devices so that’s justbase routine that’s sitting there it’s a good night routine now in terms ofcreating your own routines this is where it gets really interesting in complexbecause this can truly truly automate parts of your life all right now insidethe routines button and basically I want you to think of it like this you have atrigger and you have a number of actions that can occur after that trigger andthat’s one of the nice things here about the routines capability on these echoeddots and the Echo devices in general you have one trigger to multiple actions andso we’re gonna go into the wind this happens section here and you can seethere’s three there’s the voice the schedule and the device so first thingthe voice we could set any phrase here basically or a phrase that isn’tsomething specific like if I say Echo Dot it doesn’t work but I could saysomething like it’s movie time and have that work now I’m not going to show youthat just yet but the schedule capability here I want to show you thatat certain time so I could say 10:25 on weekdays weekends I can select a day aspecific day if I’d like or I can say every day so we could have that going onagain I’m going to cancel that and go back through device because this is theone that’s the most interesting to me personally I have a number of connecteddevices and again you might not have anything here but as you go forward youwill start to get more connected devices sensors things like that now two ofthese sensors are from a Samsung smartphone connected system that I havehere and one of them is actually on this Echo Plus right here the new Echo Pluscomes with temperature sensor onboard that you can use as a trigger so I cango into that temperature and I can say when it’s above or below thattemperature and I can choose I can also choose which scale it’s on I speakCelsius I’m Canadian so you can go ahead you can adjust what temperature you’relooking for and then you can hit that now just to show you thethe routines functionality here I’m going to use a voice trigger I couldalso use you know like motion sensors you saw motion sensors I could use thosetriggering to do certain things and you know there’s not more smarts than thatreally right now but ultimately that that capability is coming here so let’sjust say we’re going to create a naptime routine so whenever I just say nap timethen I can add certain actions now what I’ll say is there’s a lot of connectedservices here that we haven’t talked about in the video just yet but againI’m just showing you the basics so before naptimeI could start a number of things and let’s say I wanted to create basically a45-minute nap for myself so you know I can set something that the device willsay and I can do something custom if I’d like and that will allow me to have thedevice say something so we’ll just say okay have a nice sleep hit next nowthat’s the first thing it’s going to say and I’ll show you how to rearrange thoseactions now adding another action because like I said I can set thoseactions here I can set multiple now device settings so what’s the firstthing I’d want to do maybe I want to stop the audio on I could say all thedevices but let’s just say that device and that’s it it stopped that let’s addanother and I want to take the volume down just in case so there you go nowit’s at 15% or volume to 2 now if I wanted I could actually get anotification at a certain point so we’re gonna use that in a little bit here nowyou could go ahead and you could set smart home triggers you can controldevices so let’s say I wanted to turn off all of my hue bright hue lights hereI want them all off and you can see that now it’s way up herelike I said probably want to rearrange these things so I’ve just pulled fromthe two lines there pulled that down so continuing on and you can see I can adda ton of actions here if I wanted I could add calendar events yeah I couldget a message I can add music I can add news all kinds of things here but theweight functionality so let’s say I wanted to wait 45 minutes now why wouldI want to wait 45 minutes well because I’m setting an app routine so you knowmaybe you want to have a gym routine where you start music and then you wait45 minutes and then you turn that off as signifying that you’re done so there yougo you wait 45 minutes and now you turn you turn the vote the volume basicallyback up on your device and I’m actually going to get rid of the set volume totwo initially and take this down and as long as I as long as I make sure herethat my set volume is below my 45 minutes it will wait 45 minutes and thenset the volume to 7 and then let’s start music so here I can select connectedprovider so I have a few connected providers you’re going to see iTunesright now or Apple music if you’ve connected that service in the US that’snow available and then you also have the different services here so let’s sayAmazon music and I can set a timer for how long I wanted to play for so let’ssay I just wanted to play for 10 minutes and I wanted to play Foo Fighters so now I’ve set all of this up and I canhit save now one thing I’m going to do before we move forward because I want toshow you this routine I’m just going to set the delay or the wait time to justone minute and then we’ll trigger this routine now it says hey we’ve saved thisbut it might take up to one whole minute for it to show up so let me just showyou that you can go back in and you can edit these routines you can disable themas well so that allows you to manage whatroutines are available on your device now we should be able to go and triggerthis in just a minute alright now I’ve gone ahead I’ve waited a few minuteshere to make sure that my routine was set in with the device let’s go aheadand trigger it and then we’ll wait the minute to basically see that that musiccomes on so let’s get going nap time okay have a nice sleep so you can see the lights have actuallygone off here in the room I’m able to control those back on if I’d like butessentially I’ve set the the mood as we’re waiting for this to triggeractually the you know the routines the capability there is going to grow overtime here and I think we’re going to see some new things from Amazon overtimelike custom triggers so custom statements I can’t find the song twofighters regardless it tried to play the song apparently I typed in two fightersI never saw that when I did it earlier but that would have triggered the groupFoo Fighters had I done that right now clearly you can see that the routine ingeneral work but let’s go ahead and get our light turn back on here so turn on the basement office light okayso there you go you could see I turn that on and clearly it’s a lot brighterin here now so what I’ll say in general is the next thing to really talk aboutmusic audiobooks podcasts those kinds of things so down at the bottom there is aplay button and you may also still have the version of the application thatactually shows music and books here in the menu but I just went into there andyou can see recently what I’ve played that that capability is right there youcan see my Kindle library so again attached to those Amazon accounts rightso any connected music service that you’ve played it’s right there and thenyour Kindle library you can actually get books to be read through this so thisjust is based on your Amazon account now so now down below all of this all ofthese things you might not have a lot at the start but here’s the music streamingso what you’re probably going to see is a card instead of where it says moremusic streaming services you’re probably going to see something that says connectyour music services now here are my connected services you can see I alreadyhave multiple services connected if you didn’t it’s as simple as tapping in andI’ll just unlink my Spotify account here and then show you the process forlinking so you can see it said link and basically I’m already logged in asmyself here but you’d have to put in your credentials and I’m just hittingokay so that’s really it in terms of connecting so back into that same screenjust to show you one thing if I’d like I can choose that as a default musicservice so you can go ahead and tap on that choose default music service I’mgoing to continue with Amazon music because I have that that prime serviceso that gets me access to a lot of music right there tune in is also here inCanada I don’t know I don’t know all the countries that’s available in but youknow tune in is vailable as a radio service so we canstart radios from all over the world basicallyso that’s your music so let’s go ahead and let’s start music on this deviceusing that service play dear Rouge shuffling songs by dia Rouge on Amazonmusic next song stop play dear Rouge on Spotify so you can see a couple ofdifferent things that I did there I actually said I wanted to play it onthat other connected service the other Spotify service I also controlled ithere and there with my voice now I could throw across to a different device so play dear Rouge on Spotify on Brian’sEcho shuffling songs bye dear Rouge from Spotify on Brian’s Echo I forgot Iforgot to turn that on stop so you could see I actually threw it across to thisdevice over here and I was able to stop it here I could also say stop on Brian’sEcho over here and that would actually stop it so that was the name of thisdevice Brian’s Echo now in terms of playing audiobooks so you can see I haveprimal branding in my Kindle library so read
